Default Noob questions

Hi,

I just started playing GW yesterday and still going through the learning curve. I'm trying to gather as much info from website and other sources. I do have a couple of questions. I'm playing in the starting area btw.

1. Do I really need to take a secondary profession? I'm playing Elementalist and would like to just go with the primary profession. How would it affect partying and missions? Plz advice.

2. My inventory gets filled up pretty quick. Is there a place to store items, like a bank?

3. Would crafters be available to me at my level (lvl 5)? Where are they located?

Thanks

1. Just take one.. you dont have to use the second, it limits you in no way, unless of course you just want to be a ele for aesthetic reasons

2. Not in pre searing, only once you cross over to the "present" there is a storage box

3. Not sure :P

You haven't mentioned which campaign you own, so I'm assuming Prophecies.

You don't have to but you should. For example, if you go E/Me, there are quests that you can only get if you are /Me. Even if you don't want to ever use any Mesmer skills, the quests still give XP, which is always a good thing to have.

In addition to the backpack you have, you can get a belt pouch from the collecter just outside Ascalon City. Once you get out of Pre-Searing (I recommend anywhere from lvl 7-10), you can access your 'storage', where you can hold 20 items + an additional 20 for every campaign you own.

In Pre-Searing, there are collectors around that you can trade stuff to in exchange for armor. iirc The chest and leggings are at Fort Ranik, the boots are near the Green Hills County/Catacombs portal, and the gloves are just up the hill from Wizards Folly.

From what I remember (haven't been in Pre for a long time) unless they changed it you can't leave Pre searing Profs without a 2nd profession.

While I do love this game I wish they had written into the game a benefit from not choosing a secondary profession.

One obvious path would be some prime skills only achievable if you specialise on one profession.

Its not going to happen in gw1 2 3 or whatever its just not the way the system works, but the role player in me just wishes it did.

Storage gets better as you progress through the game and its more than adequate for most people.

If you are having storage problems right now , get a belt pouch , and two inventory bags, upgrade them with a rune of holding if you can.....hold 10 items per instead of 5. other than that sell what you dont need no need to horde crap.
take a second profession, like monk, it'll help you further in the game with survival and unlocking skills.
what type of 'crafters' are you lookin for? for armor? or weapons?

Go ahead and take a secondary profession. You'll find that with one your character will be much more versatile than with only a primary. You don't need to use any secondary profession skills, but having the option is nice. Also, if you end up not liking your secondary, later on in the game you'll be able to change it. With an Ele, I'd suggest taking either Memsmer or Monk as secondary.

Yes, just look for a Xunlai Agent after you've gone through the acadamy. (I'm also assuming that you have Prophecies) Save any dyes you many pick up, they're worth much more than the 1g that the merchant offers. And don't sell them to others until you know what they're worth; Black Dye is worth over 6,000g

Again, once you've gone through the acadamy, you'll find a full line of crafters and merchants (armor crafters, dye traders, etc.)in Ascalon City and all of the major cities along the way.

A good resourse for info on the game is http://guildwars.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page Or, if you've got questions while in game, just press F10!

You "have to" take a secondary in the sense that you need to in order to advance in the game/storyline.
You don't need to use your secondary's skills at any time, nor as an ele will you likely need to. You can also change your secondary later on in the game, so there is no detrement to making a "wrong" choice.

take a secondary that sounds like it could be useful, you dont have to use it now. merch everything in presearing except for dyes. and dont worry about anything else until you get out of pre.

Thanks for all the advice. Ok, secondary prof isn't that bad after all. Saving up all dyes and crafting materials. Trashing the rest. I'm level 7 atm and will probably move out of Pre-Searing shortly. Trying to learn as much as possible about the game before I do.

Prob too late for that character but trying out all the secondary professions before accepting the secondary as your own is worth while.

You gain skills experience points and learn a little about how the different classes work.
